Bond It SBR also shows improved performance as a key coat adhesive compared to non SBR bonding agents. Uses: For improving a mortar's, render's or floor screed's abrasion and chemical resistance. Providing protection during continued or intermittent water contact suitable for both external or internal use application. Key coat applications to substrates with a low porosity. For repair patching of concrete and cement screeds, to improve adhesion and flexibility of screeds. Application: All surfaces should be free from laitance, oil, grease and standing water. Unsound surfaces should be scabbled down to a solid base material. Key Coat: Mix 1 part Bond It SBR to 2 parts cement by volume and adjust to brushable consistency with water. Mix only enough to use within the hour. Brush thoroughly into a clean dust free substrate, whilst still wet overcoat with the floor or render mix. Damp-proofing: Mix the same formulation as in the key coat and apply the first coat with vigorous brush strokes. Allow to touch dry then apply a second coat at 90° to the first and allow 48 hours to dry. Apply the third coat at 90° to the second coat and whilst still wet apply the render. SBR Latex is a versatile product, which increases flexibility of cement screeds and mortars. Its formula improves durability and chemical and water resistance. Whilst its waterproofing qualities improve adhesion of cementitious screeds and reduces shrinkage when repairing floor screeds. Also ideal as a bonding agent for new to old concrete. Can be used as a bonding agent, as an admixture or general purpose primer (tiling etc). For improving a mortar’s, render’s or floor screed’s abrasion and chemical resistance. Key coat applications to substrates with low porosity. For repair patching of concrete and cement screeds, to improve adhesion and flexibility of.
This guide is for users of Bond It SBR Admixture, a premium-grade product designed to enhance the performance of concrete and cement applications. By using Bond It SBR, you can improve abrasion, chemical, and water resistance in your projects. A key benefit is its ability to act as a key coat adhesive, however, proper surface preparation is essential for optimal results.

FAQs
What is the mixing ratio for Bond It SBR as a key coat?
Mix 1 part Bond It SBR to 2 parts cement by volume. Adjust with water to a brushable consistency.
Can Bond It SBR be used on all types of concrete?
Yes, but ensure the surface is properly prepared by cleaning it and removing any loose or unsound material.
How long should I wait between applying coats for damp-proofing?
Allow each coat to touch dry. Then apply the next coat at 90 degrees to the previous one. Allow 48 hours for the final coat to dry.
What safety precautions should I take when using Bond It SBR?
Wear gloves and eye protection. Avoid contact with skin and eyes. Work in a well-ventilated area.
Can Bond It SBR be used on external surfaces?
Yes, Bond It SBR is suitable for both external and internal applications.
How do I clean tools after using Bond It SBR?
Clean tools and equipment immediately after use with water.
Is Bond It SBR suitable for repairing cracks in concrete?
Yes, Bond It SBR can be used to improve the adhesion and flexibility of repair mortars.
Troubleshooting
Poor adhesion of the applied coating.
Ensure proper surface preparation. The surface should be clean and free of contaminants. Apply the key coat correctly, ensuring it is still wet when the top coat is applied.
Cracking or shrinkage of the screed after application.
Ensure the correct mixing ratios are used. Allow the product to dry completely according to the manufacturer's instructions. Avoid applying too thick of a layer.
Water penetration through the applied surface.
Make sure you applied enough coats and allowed proper drying time for each layer. The product should be applied in multiple coats following proper damp-proofing procedures.
Difficult to apply the key coat
Adjust the water to SBR ratio to get the right consistency. Ensure that the substrate is not too porous.

Setup, Compatibility & Care
Surface Preparation: Ensure all surfaces are free from laitance, oil, grease, and standing water. Unsound surfaces should be scabbled down to a solid base material.
Key Coat Application: Mix 1 part Bond It SBR to 2 parts cement by volume. Adjust the consistency with water to achieve a brushable mix. Apply this mixture thoroughly onto a clean, dust-free substrate. Overcoat with the floor or render mix while the key coat is still wet.
Damp-proofing: For damp-proofing, apply the same formulation as the key coat in the first instance, using vigorous brush strokes. Allow it to touch-dry, and then apply a second coat at a 90-degree angle to the first. Wait 48 hours to dry. Then apply a third coat at a 90-degree angle to the second, and apply the render while wet.
Compatibility: Bond It SBR is compatible with cement-based products. Ensure you follow the manufacturer's guidelines for mixing and application with other materials.
Care: Store Bond It SBR in a cool, dry place. Avoid contact with skin and eyes; use appropriate protective gear. Clean tools and equipment immediately after use with water.
