This 10-meter Microconnect CAT5e UTP Ethernet Cable is designed for reliable network connectivity in home, office, and entertainment environments. It offers a dependable solution for connecting devices like modems, routers, switches, and computers, ensuring data transfer rates up to 1000 Mbit/s. While it provides robust performance and build quality with features like latch protection, users should be aware that it is a UTP (Unshielded Twisted Pair) cable, meaning it offers less protection against electromagnetic interference compared to shielded alternatives.

CAT5e cables support speeds up to 1000 Mbps and frequencies up to 100 MHz. CAT6 cables support higher frequencies (up to 250 MHz) and can handle speeds up to 10 Gbps over shorter distances, offering better performance for more demanding network needs.
This cable has a PVC jacket suitable for indoor use. It is not designed for outdoor exposure to UV radiation, extreme temperatures, or moisture, which can degrade the cable over time.
U/UTP stands for Unshielded Twisted Pair. It means the cable consists of pairs of insulated wires twisted together, but the entire cable bundle is not enclosed in an additional metallic shield, making it more flexible and less expensive than shielded cables (STP).
Visible signs of damage include cuts, kinks, frayed insulation, or bent connector pins. Performance issues like intermittent connections or slow speeds can also indicate internal damage not visible externally.
The Microconnect B-UTP510S networking cable comes with a 1-year warranty.
While CAT5e cables can technically carry PoE, this specific UTP model is not specifically rated or optimized for high-power PoE applications. For reliable PoE, cables designed and rated for PoE are recommended.
Ensure both ends of the cable are securely plugged into the correct ports. Verify that the connected devices are powered on and configured for network access. Test the cable with different devices or try a known working cable to isolate the issue.
Check for physical damage to the cable, such as kinks or frayed wires. Ensure the cable is not exceeding its maximum recommended length for the desired speed. Verify that your router, modem, and network card support Gigabit speeds. Ensure the cable is not running parallel to power cords, which can cause interference.
Inspect the latch on the RJ-45 connector for damage. If the latch is broken, the connector may not secure properly. Consider replacing the cable. Ensure the port on the device is not obstructed or damaged.
