The camera module 3 takes advantage of the Raspberry Pi open source camera system supported by libcamera. This comprehensive set of libraries gives developers precise control over image processing and better access to the interior of the Camera Module 3. The latest version of Raspberry Pi OS comes with a pre-installed beta version of Picamera2, a Python library developed here at Raspberry Pi in Cambridge. Picamera2 is suitable for beginners as well as advanced users and is suitable for everything from home projects to machine learning applications.
