Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup Instructions
- Unpack: Carefully remove the filter and all components from the packaging.
- Rinse Media: Rinse the included filter media thoroughly under cool tap water to remove any manufacturing dust.
- Assemble: Place the rinsed media back into the filter housing according to the manufacturer's instructions. Ensure the impeller is properly seated.
- Placement: Submerge the filter completely in your aquarium or terrarium's water section. Use the included suction cups to secure it firmly to the tank wall.
- Positioning: Ensure the water outlet is positioned to create good surface agitation for oxygen exchange, but not so strong that it creates excessive current for your tank inhabitants.
- Power On: Plug the filter into a suitable electrical outlet. Ensure a drip loop is formed with the power cord to prevent water from running into the outlet.
Compatibility
This filter is designed for aquariums and terrariums up to 45 litres. It is ideal for nano tanks, breeding tanks, quarantine tanks, and small terrarium water features.
Care and Maintenance
- Regular Cleaning: Clean the filter media every 2-4 weeks, or more frequently if water flow decreases significantly or the tank is heavily stocked. Use old tank water during water changes to rinse media, preserving beneficial bacteria.
- Impeller Check: Periodically inspect the impeller for blockages (e.g., debris, plant matter) or wear. A clean impeller ensures quiet and efficient operation.
- Housing Clean: Wipe down the filter housing to remove algae or mineral deposits.
- Media Replacement: Replace mechanical filter media (like sponges) as needed, typically every 1-3 months, and chemical media (if used) as per manufacturer's recommendations.
