FAQs

Is this set safe for the oven?

The set is designated as microwave and freezer safe. It is not recommended for use in a conventional oven.

Are the colours uniform across the set?

The set uses a coordinated pastel palette, but because they are hand-painted, you will see subtle differences in color intensity and brush strokes on every piece.

How many pieces are included in this set?

This specific package includes an 18-piece set.

Does the finish scratch easily?

The glazed stoneware is durable, but it is best to avoid using serrated metal knives directly on the surface to prevent surface scratches over time.

Can I use these pieces for freezer storage?

Yes, the stoneware is freezer safe, making it convenient for storing prepared portions.

How should I handle the weight of the plates?

Stoneware is denser than porcelain, so be mindful when stacking large numbers of plates to ensure your shelf support is adequate.

Troubleshooting

Visible surface differences between pieces

This is a characteristic of the hand-painting process and not a defect; it contributes to the unique look of the collection.

Stains from food or drink

Soak the affected piece in warm soapy water and use a soft sponge. Avoid metal scrubbers to prevent scratching the glaze.

Heat retention in microwave

Stoneware retains heat well; always use oven mitts when removing items from the microwave to avoid burns.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Distinctive, hand-painted aesthetic
  • Versatile for casual and formal dining
  • Durable, long-lasting stoneware material
  • Compatible with dishwashers and microwaves
  • Attractive, coordinated pastel colour scheme

Cons

  • Slight variations between pieces due to hand-painting
  • Heavier than traditional porcelain or fine china
  • Stoneware can be prone to chipping if handled roughly

Setup, Compatibility & Care

To keep your Simpa Cloud Nine set looking its best, consider the following care guidelines:

  • Initial Setup: Inspect the pieces upon arrival. As they are hand-painted, slight variations in paint application are intentional and normal.
  • Cleaning: While these items are dishwasher safe, avoid using abrasive scouring pads that might dull the surface finish over time.
  • Thermal Shock: Although the set is microwave and freezer safe, avoid extreme, sudden temperature changes (such as moving directly from a freezer to a preheated oven), as this can cause stoneware to crack.
  • Storage: Stoneware is durable but can be heavy. Ensure your cupboard shelves are sturdy enough to support the weight of the full 18-piece set.
