You will need a compatible ABS pipe of 40mm diameter, a suitable solvent cement and primer for ABS, a pipe cutter, and potentially a deburring tool.

While ABS is durable, prolonged exposure to direct UV sunlight can degrade the material over time. For outdoor applications, consider components specifically rated for UV resistance or ensure adequate protection.

ABS solvent weld systems are generally suitable for typical domestic wastewater temperatures. Avoid exposing the system to extremely high temperatures which could deform the plastic.

A strong connection relies on clean surfaces, proper application of primer and solvent cement, and holding the joint firmly for the recommended time during the curing process.

Ensure the solvent weld process was followed correctly, including proper surface preparation, even cement application, and sufficient holding time during curing. If leakage persists, the joint may need to be cut out and remade.

Check for obstructions or damage at the pipe end or fitting socket. Ensure the pipe is cut squarely and the correct diameter is being used.

Verify that the correct type of solvent cement was used and that environmental conditions (temperature, humidity) were within the recommended range for curing. Avoid stressing the joint until fully cured.
