Setup, Compatibility & Care
Preparation: Ensure the wood surface is clean, dry, and free from dust, grease, and old finishes. Sand smooth if necessary, working through progressively finer grits. For new wood, a final sanding with 240-grit sandpaper is recommended. Wipe away all dust.
Application:
- Stir the oil thoroughly before use.
- Apply a thin, even coat using a brush, cloth, or applicator pad. Work the oil into the grain.
- Allow the oil to penetrate for approximately 15-30 minutes.
- Wipe off any excess oil that has not been absorbed using a clean, lint-free cloth. Do not allow the oil to go tacky on the surface.
- Allow the surface to dry for a minimum of 4 hours.
- Apply subsequent coats (usually 2-3 in total), repeating steps 2-5. Lightly de-nib with fine steel wool (0000 grade) or fine sandpaper between coats if necessary, ensuring all dust is removed before recoating.
Compatibility: Suitable for all types of solid wood and premium veneers. Not recommended for engineered wood, laminates, or painted surfaces.
Care: Clean spills immediately with a damp cloth and mild detergent. Avoid abrasive cleaners. For maintenance, reapply a thin coat of oil annually or as needed, following the application steps.
