Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup
Installing the HPE 32 GB DDR5 memory module is a straightforward process, but requires careful handling:
- Power Down: Safely shut down and unplug your HPE Gen11 server from all power sources.
- Access Server: Open the server chassis according to HPE's documentation for your specific server model.
- Locate DIMM Slots: Identify the available DDR5 UDIMM slots on the motherboard. Refer to your server manual for proper slot population order.
- Install Module: Gently press down on the clips at both ends of the DIMM slot. Align the memory module with the slot, ensuring the notch on the module matches the key in the slot. Press firmly but evenly on both ends of the module until the clips snap into place.
- Secure and Power On: Close the server chassis, reconnect power, and power on the server. The system should automatically detect the new memory.
Compatibility
- Server: Specifically designed and tested for HPE Gen11 servers.
- Processor: Optimized for new generation Intel processors that support DDR5 memory.
- Memory Type: Must be installed in systems that support DDR5 UDIMM. Check your server's documentation to confirm compatibility.
Care
- Handling: Always hold memory modules by their edges to avoid touching the gold contacts or integrated circuits, which can be damaged by static electricity or oils from your skin.
- Static Prevention: Use an anti-static wrist strap or periodically touch a grounded metal object before handling memory to discharge static electricity.
- Environment: Ensure the server operates in a clean, temperature-controlled environment to prevent dust buildup and overheating, which can impact memory longevity.
