The tube and head are integral-machined from one piece of high-strength 7000 series Aluminium, ensuring superior strength and minimum weight. It is certified to EN 14766 2006 MTB and DIN CERTCO: 2006 MTB. The natural ellipse bore inside the tube creates an optimum strength-to-weight ratio. It features a long 1.614 inch (41mm) seat rail grip length to prevent seat rail bending from impact loads. The design incorporates a bending fuse to prevent catastrophic failure, unlike other seatposts which fail catastrophically. The clamp, head, and upper tube are strong enough to withstand 350 foot-lbs of torque, while the tube will yield and bend at the seat tube clamp at about 250 foot-lbs of torque. Under severe impact, it will bend slightly, allowing the rider to finish the ride safely. All parts are captive and can be easily attached without disassembly. It offers infinite tilt adjustment from minus 5 degrees to plus 29 degrees. The very low profile clamps ensure no seat interference, as the swivel nuts are located between the seat rails. The designs and materials have passed extensive life and ultimate strength tests, with an ongoing testing program to ensure production lots meet Thomson standards. Impact-absorbing clamps spread and flex on impact to protect the seat, rails, and rider, allowing seats to survive heavy impact loads without bending the rails. It is available in 330mm, 367mm, and 410mm lengths, in all seatpost sizes. Weight is 228g for a 330mm length.
