Kenable Ethernet Cable - Cat7 - Outdoor Use - Shielded

This cable is capable of transferring up to 10 gig at 600Mhz! Supplied with a wooden spindle for easy installation. The wooden spindle/spool helps prevent snags and tangles when pulling the cable. The weatherproof UV resistant PE sheath allows the cable to be outdoors without eroding over time. Suitable for burying underground, mounting to buildings, or installing indoors. The 8mm copper cable is more rigid than previous revisions of network cable but easy to install. Our range of Cat7 cables run faster than Cat 6 or Cat5 cables but are backwardly compatible. Our range of Cat 7 cables have double shielding to eliminate cross talk and interference. Referred to as F/STP, under the sheath lies a foil shield and then underneath this, each twisted pair is also inside a foil shield. Perfect for the latest in 4K TVs, Gaming Consoles, Macbooks, PCs, Laptops, Notebooks, CCTV, Access Points, Range Extenders, and any other device that uses the RJ45 connection. Difference between Cat 5e, Cat 6 and Cat 7 cables: The main factors are speed (bandwidth) and frequency (MHz). Speed determines how much data can be sent. Cat 7 cables have a maximum speed/bandwidth of 10,000 Mbit/s, Cat 6 carries 1000Mbit/s, and Cat 5e cables carry up to 1000Mbit/s. Frequency or MHz indicates how often the signal can pass through the cable. Cat 7 cables have a very high frequency at 600MHz, Cat 6 has 250MHz, and Cat5e has 100MHz. Overall, a Cat 7 cable allows more bandwidth at a faster rate than the previous Cat 6 or Cat5e Cables. Cat5e: Speed to 1000 Mbit/s, 100mhz. Cat6: Speed to 1000 Mbit/s, 250mhz. Cat6a: Speed to 10000 Mbit/s, 500mhz. Cat7: Speed to 10000 Mbit/s, 600mhz.
This kenable Cat7 S/FTP outdoor Ethernet cable is designed for users needing robust, high-speed network connectivity in challenging environments. Its key benefit is delivering up to 10 Gbps at 600MHz with superior interference protection, suitable for outdoor installations and direct burial. A potential caveat is its 8mm diameter, making it more rigid than thinner cables, though it remains easy to install thanks to the supplied wooden spindle.

FAQs
What is the main advantage of Cat7 over Cat6?
Cat7 offers significantly higher bandwidth (600MHz vs 250MHz) and supports 10 Gbps speeds over longer distances, with enhanced shielding to minimize interference, making it superior for demanding applications and future-proofing.
Can I use this cable indoors as well as outdoors?
Yes, the weatherproof UV-resistant PE sheath is designed for outdoor use, but it is also perfectly suitable for indoor installations where high performance and shielding are required.
Do I need special tools to install this cable?
While the cable itself is designed for easy installation with the spindle, terminating shielded Cat7 cable requires specific RJ45 connectors designed for this type of cable and often benefits from professional crimping tools for a secure, interference-free connection.
Is this cable suitable for direct burial?
Yes, the weatherproof and UV-resistant PE sheath makes this cable suitable for direct burial underground without degrading over time.
Will this cable work with my existing Cat5e or Cat6 devices?
Yes, Cat7 cables are backward compatible and will work with devices using Cat5e, Cat6, or Cat6a connections. However, the speed will be limited by the slowest component in the network chain.
What does S/FTP mean for this cable?
S/FTP stands for 'Screened/Foiled Twisted Pair'. It indicates that the cable has an overall screen (foil braid) and each individual twisted pair is also shielded with its own foil, providing double protection against crosstalk and EMI.
What is the diameter of the cable?
The cable has an outer diameter of approximately 8mm.
Troubleshooting
Slow network speeds
Verify cable is properly terminated with Cat7 connectors. Ensure the connected devices support 10 Gbps. Check for physical damage or kinks in the cable run. Confirm network equipment is not the bottleneck.
Intermittent connection drops
Inspect cable for damage. Ensure all connections are secure. Check shielding integrity at termination points. Test with a shorter, known-good cable to isolate the issue.
Cable difficult to bend or route
The 8mm diameter makes the cable more rigid. Use caution when bending to avoid kinking. Utilize the supplied spindle for smoother pulling. Gentle, wide bends are recommended over sharp turns.
Outdoor cable degrading quickly
Ensure the PE sheath is intact. If exposed to extreme conditions, consider running the cable within a protective conduit for added defense against physical abrasion or chemical exposure.
Pros and Cons
Pros
Exceptional speed and bandwidth for future-proof networking.
Superior shielding provides excellent protection against interference.
Durable construction designed for outdoor and underground use.
Included spindle simplifies installation.
Backward compatible with older Ethernet standards.
Cons
More rigid due to its 8mm diameter compared to thinner cables.
Requires appropriate connectors for Cat7 termination.
Higher cost compared to lower category Ethernet cables.
Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup:
Unspool the cable using the wooden spindle, ensuring it doesn't snag or twist excessively.
Route the cable to its desired location, accounting for its 8mm diameter and rigidity.
Terminate the cable ends using appropriate Cat7 RJ45 connectors. Professional termination tools are recommended for shielded cables.
Connect to your networking devices (router, switch, computer, etc.).
Compatibility:
Backward Compatible: Works with Cat 5e, Cat 6, and Cat 6a ports and devices.
RJ45 Connectors: Requires Cat7-rated RJ45 connectors for optimal performance.
Outdoor Use: Suitable for direct burial, conduit installation, or surface mounting outdoors. The PE sheath protects against UV and moisture.
Care:
Cleaning: If the outer sheath becomes dirty, clean with a damp cloth. Avoid harsh chemicals.
Inspection: Periodically inspect the cable for any physical damage, especially if buried or exposed to harsh weather.
Termination Points: Ensure termination points are protected from moisture and dust.
