The Kirschen 1111000 6-piece ripping chisel set is designed for professional woodworkers and serious hobbyists who demand precision and durability in their shop. These hand-forged tools provide exceptional edge retention for both soft and medium-hardness woods, though they require manual sharpening maintenance to preserve their high-carbon steel integrity over long-term use.

The set includes six chisels in the following sizes: 6 mm, 10 mm, 12 mm, 16 mm, 20 mm, and 26 mm.
These are optimized for soft and medium-hardness woods. They can handle hardwoods, but you may need to hone the edges more frequently.
They arrive with a factory grind, but most professionals prefer to perform a final honing before initial use.
Use a dry cloth or a slightly damp cloth with mild soap; avoid soaking the wooden stocks in water.
Yes, they are designed to withstand controlled striking, but ensure you are using a wooden or urethane mallet to protect the handle stocks.
Perform a touch-up honing using a fine grit stone to restore the 25-degree edge.
Gently remove rust with a fine abrasive pad and apply a thin coat of mineral oil or tool oil to protect the steel.
Before first use, ensure the chisels are properly honed to your preferred sharpness. To maintain the integrity of the high-carbon steel, wipe the blades with a light machine oil after every session to prevent corrosion. When sharpening, use high-quality water stones or diamond plates to maintain the factory 25-degree angle. Always store the chisels in a dry environment, ideally using a chisel roll or a wall-mounted rack to protect the cutting edges from coming into contact with other metal tools.
