Product Information

Full details

The Samuel Alexander Solar Powered Outdoor Garden String Lights are designed for homeowners and garden enthusiasts looking to enhance their outdoor spaces with a warm, ambient glow without the complexity of mains wiring. These 12m lights provide a versatile solution for decorating foliage, patios, and gazebos, offering up to 8 hours of illumination on a full charge. A key caveat is that the lighting duration depends heavily on the amount of direct sunlight the solar panel receives, meaning performance may vary based on seasonal conditions and placement.

FAQs

Are these lights waterproof?

These are designed for outdoor use, but they should not be submerged in water or placed in areas prone to heavy flooding.

Can I replace the LEDs if one breaks?

No, the LEDs are integrated into the string and are not individually replaceable.

How long does the battery last?

A fully charged battery provides up to 8 hours of illumination.

Can I use these lights indoors?

These are specifically designed for outdoor solar charging; they will not function correctly indoors without consistent, direct sunlight on the panel.

Do I need to turn them on every night?

No, once switched on, the internal light sensor automatically detects dusk and turns the lights on for you.

What is the total length of the cable?

The set includes 12m of illuminated lights plus a 2m lead cable, for a total of 14m.

Troubleshooting

Lights do not turn on at dusk

Ensure the solar panel is not being shaded by trees or buildings and verify the power switch is in the 'On' position.

Lights are dim or stay on for a short time

The solar panel likely did not receive enough sunlight during the day; relocate the panel to a more exposed area.

Switching modes does not work

Ensure the switch underneath the solar panel is clean and dry; try toggling it firmly to cycle through settings.

Pros and Cons

Pros

No mains electricity or batteries required
Easy to install in any sunny outdoor location
Ample 12m length covers large areas
Automatic dusk-to-dawn switching
Discreet cable color for natural integration

Cons

Performance is dependent on sunlight exposure
Limited to 8 hours of battery life
Not suitable for indoor use or shaded areas

Setup, Compatibility & Care

Setup is straightforward: identify a location that receives consistent direct sunlight for the ground-mounted solar panel. Insert the stake firmly into the soil, ensuring the panel is tilted toward the sun. Before first use, it is recommended to leave the unit in the 'Off' position for one full sunny day to ensure the battery is fully primed. To care for your lights, occasionally wipe the surface of the solar panel with a soft, damp cloth to remove dust or debris, which can impede charging. During severe winter weather or prolonged periods of shade, consider storing the lights indoors to prolong the lifespan of the battery and components.
