The fire cement has an excellent storage life when kept in a tightly sealed container in a cool, dry place. This minimizes drying out and preserves its putty-like consistency.

It is not generally recommended to paint or decorate over fire cement, as it is designed for high-temperature sealing and structural integrity within fireboxes and flues. Decorative finishes may not withstand the heat or bond effectively.
