Product Information
Full details
The Polydron Solid Magnetic Essential Shapes Set is designed for children, educators, and parents looking to introduce foundational geometry and construction concepts through hands-on play. Its key benefit is fostering spatial awareness, problem-solving skills, and an understanding of magnetism in an engaging way. A potential caveat is that while compatible with other sets, the Essential Shapes Set focuses on a core selection of polygons, which might require additional sets for more complex architectural designs.

FAQs
What age group is this set recommended for?
This set is recommended for children aged 3 years and older due to the presence of small parts and magnets. Adult supervision is advised for younger children.
How many pieces are in the set?
The Essential Shapes Set contains 104 magnetic pieces, including squares, equilateral triangles, pentagons, and hexagons.
Are the magnets safe for children?
The magnets are securely encased within the durable ABS plastic. However, as with any small toy, adult supervision is recommended, especially for children who may put objects in their mouths.
Can I buy additional shapes separately?
While this is an 'Essential Shapes' set, Polydron offers various other magnetic sets with different shapes and sizes that are compatible and can be purchased separately to expand building possibilities.
How do the colors relate to the magnets?
The colors are used to differentiate the magnetic poles. Typically, one color represents a positive pole and another a negative pole, demonstrating attraction and repulsion principles.
What are the dimensions of the pieces?
Each piece in the Essential Shapes Set measures approximately 6 x 6cm.
Troubleshooting
Pieces are not connecting strongly.
Ensure the magnetic faces are clean and free from debris. Check that you are attempting to connect opposite magnetic poles (indicated by color differences) for attraction.
A piece is cracked or damaged.
Contact customer support for potential replacement options. Inspect for any sharp edges before continuing use.
Magnets seem weak.
Ensure pieces are stored properly away from strong magnetic fields or sources of heat. Clean the magnetic surfaces.

- Supports the development of spatial reasoning and problem-solving.
- Color-coding aids in understanding magnetic polarity.
- Compatible with other Polydron magnetic sets for expansion.
Cons
- The 'Essential Shapes' might require additional sets for very complex models.
- Smaller pieces could be a choking hazard for very young children not supervised.
- Magnetic connections, while strong, may not withstand rough handling.
Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup: No assembly is required. The Polydron Solid Magnetic Essential Shapes Set is ready for play straight out of the box.
Compatibility: This set is fully compatible with other Magnetic Polydron sets. Pieces from different sets can be combined to create larger and more complex constructions.
Care: To clean the pieces, use a soft, damp cloth. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or submerging the pieces in water, as this may damage the magnets or plastic. Store the set in a dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures, to maintain the integrity of the magnetic components.
