The Prym Buttonhole Elastic is an essential sewing accessory designed for anyone looking to create or repair adjustable waistbands in garments. It is particularly well-suited for parents making children's clothing or individuals creating maternity wear, as it allows for easy size modifications through pre-spaced buttonholes. While it provides exceptional flexibility and comfort, users should note that it requires a secure button attachment point within the garment's internal waistband casing to function effectively.

This specific variant of Prym Buttonhole Elastic is 25 mm wide.
Yes, it is OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certified, meaning it is tested for harmful substances and is safe for sensitive skin.
Yes, this material is safe for tumble drying at standard heat settings.
Most users sew the ends of the elastic securely to the interior side seams of the waistband, ensuring the buttonholes remain accessible.
While durable, it is primarily designed for casual clothing and maternity wear. It may not provide the necessary tension for heavy-duty outdoor gear.
Due to its high-quality construction, it is designed to resist premature sagging, but constant exposure to extremely high heat or harsh chemicals can degrade elasticity over time.
Ensure the waistband channel is at least 25mm wide; if the casing is too narrow, you may need to unstitch and widen the channel.
Ensure you are using a button that is slightly larger than the elastic hole to create a secure lock, or reinforce the button attachment.
Seal the cut ends of the elastic by lightly running a flame over them or applying a small amount of clear fray-check liquid.
To set up the elastic, measure the desired length by wrapping it around the waist and adding a small margin for overlap. Always sew the elastic ends firmly to the inside of the garment to prevent the elastic from slipping out of the casing.
Compatibility-wise, this 25mm width is best paired with mid-sized buttons that fit comfortably through the pre-cut slots. For care, keep the elastic in a cool, dry place when not in use. When the garment is soiled, you may wash it in standard cycles up to 60 degrees. Avoid using harsh chemical bleaches that could break down the elastic fibers over time.
