Setup, Compatibility & Care
Getting the most out of your YSL All Hours Glow Foundation involves proper initial preparation, understanding its compatibility with other products, and mindful storage.
Initial Setup (Skin Prep)
- Cleanse: Start with a clean face to remove impurities and excess oil.
- Moisturize: Apply your regular moisturizer. Allow it to fully absorb into the skin for a few minutes before proceeding.
- Prime: For enhanced longevity and a smoother base, apply a suitable face primer. A hydrating primer can boost the glow, while a mattifying primer can control shine in specific areas if needed.
Compatibility
- Primers: Works well with most hydrating, radiant, or silicone-based primers. Avoid heavy, oil-based primers if you're prone to oiliness.
- Concealers: Compatible with both liquid and cream concealers. Apply foundation first, then pinpoint conceal where extra coverage is needed.
- Powders: A light setting powder can be used over the foundation, especially in areas prone to shine. Opt for a translucent or finely milled powder to preserve the foundation's glow.
- Other Makeup: Integrates smoothly with liquid blushes, bronzers, and highlighters. Apply liquid/cream products before setting with powder.
Product Care & Storage
- Storage: Store the foundation bottle upright in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight or extreme temperatures. This helps maintain its formulation and efficacy.
- Hygiene: To prevent contamination, avoid touching the applicator or directly applying foundation to your face from the bottle. Dispense onto a clean palette, the back of your hand, or directly onto your application tool.
- Expiration: Like all cosmetics, foundation has an expiration date, usually indicated by a `PAO` (Period After Opening) symbol (e.g., `12M` for 12 months). Discard after this period to ensure product safety and performance.
- Cleaning Tools: Regularly clean your foundation brushes and sponges to prevent product buildup and bacterial growth, which can affect application and skin health.
