Setup, Compatibility & Care
For optimal results, ensure the cable is installed by a professional or someone experienced with network termination.
- Planning: Measure runs carefully, keeping in mind that Cat6 maximum run length for 10Gbps is approximately 55 meters; longer runs may drop to 1Gbps speeds.
- Installation: Avoid sharp bends or kinks in the cable, as these can damage the internal shielding and degrade performance.
- Termination: Use high-quality Cat6-rated RJ45 connectors and ensure the shielding is properly grounded to the metal housing of the connector.
- Care: When stored, keep the spool in a dry, climate-controlled area away from direct sunlight to prevent jacket degradation.
