Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup: This warning tape is designed to be buried directly above the utility it protects. It should be laid horizontally in the trench, typically a specified distance (refer to local regulations or project plans) above the gas pipe. Ensure the tape is laid flat and centered over the service. Backfill the trench carefully, avoiding sharp objects that could damage the tape.
Compatibility: The tape is compatible with standard excavation and locating equipment designed to detect metallic elements. It is designed for use with buried gas lines but similar variants exist for water, electrical, and telephone services.
Care: Store the tape in its original packaging in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight to preserve its integrity. The polypropylene material is resistant to rot and chemicals typically found in soil. No active maintenance is required once buried; its function is passive detection and warning.
