The 150 mm K36 wheel is a coarse grit wheel for general grinding and shaping. The 200 mm x 40 mm K80 wheel is a wetstone for finer sharpening and honing to achieve a sharp edge.
You must keep the wetstone wheel consistently wet during use. Fill the provided water trough and ensure the wheel makes contact with the water. This prevents the wheel from overheating, drying out, and cracking, while also aiding in smooth sharpening.
This grinder is primarily designed for sharpening tools. While the coarse wheel can remove some material, it is not intended for heavy-duty metal fabrication or shaping tasks that require more aggressive grinding.
The grinder operates at two speeds: 2850 rpm for the dry grinding wheel and 120 rpm for the wetstone wheel. The lower speed of the wetstone is ideal for controlled sharpening and preventing overheating of the tool's edge.
Wheel replacement depends on usage and wear. Inspect the wheels regularly for significant wear or damage. The coarse wheel will wear down over time, and the wetstone may require dressing (flattening) to maintain its surface. Replace them when they are no longer effective or safe to use.
The Scheppach Bench Grinder requires a standard 230V, 50Hz power supply.
Ensure the power cord is securely plugged into a functional outlet. Check the power switch is in the 'on' position. Verify the outlet has power by testing with another device.
Confirm the power is connected and the switch is on. Ensure no obstruction is preventing the wheel from turning freely. Check if the wheel is properly seated on the spindle.
Ensure the grinder is placed on a stable, level surface. Check that the wheels are securely mounted and balanced. Inspect for any loose parts or damaged components.
Ensure the correct wheel is being used for the task (coarse for shaping, wetstone for honing). Check that the tool is held at a consistent angle against the wheel. For the wetstone, ensure it is adequately wet.
Ensure the water trough is correctly positioned and seated. Inspect for any cracks or damage to the plastic trough. If damaged, replace the trough.
