Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup: No special setup is required. Ensure the paint is at room temperature for optimal consistency. Stir the paint gently with a brush or palette knife before use; avoid vigorous shaking, which can create air bubbles.
Compatibility: DecoArt Americana Acrylics are compatible with a wide range of surfaces including canvas, paper, wood, unglazed pottery, Styrofoam, fabric, and metal. For non-porous surfaces like glass, metal, or plastics, using a compatible primer is highly recommended for best adhesion. The paints are also intermixable with each other and with DecoArt's specialty mediums (like glazes, texture mediums, or varnishes) to alter consistency, finish, or durability.
Care:
- While Wet: Clean brushes, tools, and spills immediately with soap and water.
- Once Dry: The paint is permanent and water-resistant. For most surfaces, simply wipe with a slightly damp cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners or excessive scrubbing, especially on surfaces that have not been varnished. If the painted item will be exposed to heavy use or moisture (e.g., outdoor items, tabletops), applying a compatible acrylic sealer or varnish is strongly advised for long-term protection.
