Farrow & Ball Dead Flat Paint in Joa's White is an ideal choice for homeowners and interior designers seeking a sophisticated, ultra-matte finish for walls, woodwork, and metal surfaces. This paint provides a contemporary, warm taupe aesthetic that pairs beautifully with natural materials like leather and linen, though users should note that its specialized alkyd resin formula requires specific drying times for optimal durability. Crafted in England, it combines a high-end vintage look with surprising resilience for high-traffic environments.

No, this specific Dead Flat formula is intended for interior use on walls, woodwork, and metal.
No, Joa's White is a warm taupe with a hint of black pigment, making it much softer and more neutral than a standard bright white.
While it is touch-dry relatively quickly, it is best to allow 24 hours between coats and several days for the paint to fully cure and reach maximum durability.
Depending on the state of the surface, a primer is highly recommended to ensure uniform absorption and adhesion.
While the paint is durable, it is best suited for dry living spaces; avoid using it in areas with direct water contact or extremely high humidity.
Ensure you are using a high-quality synthetic brush and avoid over-working the paint once it begins to set.
Lightly sand existing glossy surfaces with fine-grit sandpaper to create a profile before applying a dedicated primer.
Ensure the paint is thoroughly stirred before and during application to prevent the pigment and resin from separating.
To achieve the best results, ensure all surfaces are clean, dry, and free of grease or loose debris before application. For new or bare surfaces, apply a high-quality primer compatible with alkyd resin paints. Use a high-quality synthetic brush or a short-pile roller for a smooth finish. Once applied, allow sufficient curing time before exposing the surface to heavy contact or moisture. When cleaning, use a soft cloth with mild, non-abrasive soap and water. Avoid harsh chemical cleaners as they may alter the matte finish over time.
