Full details
The Crafty Catcher Big Hit Catfish Nuggets are engineered for dedicated predator anglers focusing on Wells Catfish, offering a high-protein solution that relies on aggressive scent profiles to draw fish in from a distance. These 20mm baits are ideal for those targeting trophy-sized specimens; however, anglers should note that their high oil content may make them less suitable for long-term storage in extreme heat, requiring careful climate management to maintain their structural integrity.

FAQs
Are these suitable for river fishing?
Yes, the high-density formula is designed to withstand the flow of rivers while continuing to release attractors.
Can I use these with a PVA bag?
While the nuggets themselves are not designed to be PVA-friendly due to their oil content, they can be used alongside PVA bags containing dry pellets.
How long should I leave a bait in the water before refreshing?
For optimal scent dispersion, refresh your hookbait every 4 to 6 hours during active fishing sessions.
Does the bait contain artificial flavors?
The bait relies on high-density fishmeals and oil-based attractors, including natural components like Kelp Meal and Robin Red.
Are these only for Wells Catfish?
While designed for Wells Catfish, their high protein and fishmeal content make them attractive to other large predatory species.
Troubleshooting
Bait softening too quickly in warm water
Ensure the nuggets are kept in a cool, shaded area and consider using a slightly smaller rig weight to reduce impact on the bait during casting.
Difficulty threading bait onto hair rig
Use a heavy-duty baiting needle designed for hardened pellets to prevent cracking the nugget surface.
Pros and Cons
Pros
- Powerful scent profile creates an irresistible attraction for catfish
- Contains high-quality fishmeal and attractors like Robin Red
- Durable enough for long-range or overnight fishing sessions
- Specifically formulated for the needs of large Wells Catfish
Cons
- Requires proper storage to prevent oil degradation in warm environments
- May attract nuisance scavenger species due to potent scent
- Large 20mm size may require specific rig setups for smaller hooks
Setup, Compatibility & Care
To maximize the potential of these nuggets, pair them with a robust hair rig constructed from high-tensile braid or coated hooklink material. Because the nuggets are 20mm, ensure your hook size (recommended 2/0 to 6/0 depending on your specific rig) provides enough gape for optimal hooking potential. Regarding care, always keep the product in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Once the package is opened, seal it tightly to prevent the oil-based attractors from oxidizing or attracting unwanted pests. If you are fishing in particularly hot weather, keep your bait tub inside a thermal bag to prevent the oil content from breaking down the binder.
