Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup:
- Connect one RJ45 connector to your network device (e.g., router, switch, computer).
- Connect the other RJ45 connector to your network destination.
- Ensure both connectors click securely into place.
Compatibility:
This Cat6a cable is backwards compatible with Cat6, Cat5e, and Cat5 standards, meaning it will function with older network equipment. However, to achieve the maximum 10 Gigabit Ethernet speeds (10GBASE-T), both the connected devices (network interface cards, switches, routers) must also support Cat6a or higher standards.
Care:
- Avoid sharp bends or kinks in the cable, as this can damage the internal wires and shielding.
- Keep connectors clean and free from dust and debris. Use compressed air if necessary.
- Store the cable loosely coiled when not in use to prevent stress on the conductors.
- Clean the cable jacket with a dry or slightly damp cloth; avoid harsh chemicals.
