Setup, Compatibility & Care
To ensure success with your Raspberry Glen Dee, start by preparing a soil-rich site with plenty of organic matter. Space individual plants approximately 45-60 centimeters apart to prevent overcrowding. Since this variety produces upright canes, installing a simple post-and-wire trellis is highly recommended to support the weight of the fruit and keep the rows orderly. Watering is critical during the fruit-swelling phase in spring and early summer; maintain moist soil but avoid waterlogging the roots. After the fruiting season concludes, prune out the old canes that have finished bearing fruit, leaving only the healthy new green growth for the following season. Applying a layer of mulch annually will help suppress weeds and retain ground moisture.
