HiSpec Mains Powered Smoke Alarm - Photoelectric

This alarm uses photoelectric technology, which is particularly effective at detecting slow-burning fires that produce a lot of visible smoke. It is also compliant with the Renting Homes (Wales) Act 2022.

It is recommended to test your smoke alarm every month by pressing the test button.

The 9V battery provides continuous power to the alarm in the event of a mains power failure, ensuring your home remains protected.

This alarm is designed to interconnect with other compatible Hi-Spec alarms. It is not recommended to interconnect with alarms from different manufacturers.

Gently vacuum the exterior of the alarm, including the vents, with a soft brush attachment at least twice a year to prevent dust buildup.

The Act requires interlinked smoke alarms on every floor, with alarms in each habitable room, and carbon monoxide alarms in specific locations. This alarm helps meet those requirements when installed correctly and interconnected.

The lifespan of a 9V battery varies depending on usage and brand, but it's advisable to replace it at least annually or immediately when the low battery warning chirp sounds.

Check that the mains power is on and that the 9V battery is correctly installed and charged. Ensure the alarm is securely attached to the base.

Ensure the alarm is not located near cooking appliances or bathrooms where steam/fumes could trigger it. Clean the alarm vents with a vacuum cleaner to remove dust or insects. Check for drafts near vents.

Replace the 9V battery immediately with a fresh one.

Verify that the interconnection wiring is correctly connected between all alarms according to the installation guide. Test each alarm individually and then as a system.

This may indicate a fault. Try resetting the alarm by removing mains power and battery for a minute, then reinstalling. If the issue persists, the alarm may need replacing.
