Cat6 cables generally support higher frequencies and offer better performance, especially for Gigabit Ethernet and beyond, often featuring tighter twists and better shielding than Cat5e. Cat5e is sufficient for most standard home and office network speeds up to 1 Gbps.
Due to its Copper Clad Aluminium (CCA) construction, this cable is not recommended for Power over Ethernet (PoE) applications. CCA is less conductive than pure copper, which can lead to overheating and reduced efficiency when carrying significant electrical current alongside data.
UTP stands for Unshielded Twisted Pair. It means the cable consists of pairs of wires twisted together without an overall metallic shield to protect against electromagnetic interference. This is common for shorter runs in less interference-prone environments.
While Cat5e is rated for up to 100 meters, the CCA construction in this specific cable might lead to increased signal degradation over longer runs compared to pure copper cables. For distances approaching 100 meters, a pure copper cable is generally recommended for optimal performance.
