Setup, Compatibility & Care
To ensure a successful installation, follow these guidelines:
- Preparation: Measure your gate or door thickness to ensure your chosen bolts are long enough to pass through, but not so long that they obstruct function.
- Drilling: Use a drill bit slightly smaller than the shank of your chosen fasteners to create pilot holes. This prevents the wood from splitting, especially when mounting into hardwood.
- Hardware Selection: Since these hinges use 8mm hole diameters, use high-quality coach bolts or heavy-duty wood screws with a matching finish to maintain the galvanised protection.
- Alignment: Use a spirit level to ensure the hinges are perfectly vertical; misaligned hinges will cause unnecessary friction and premature wear on the pivot point.
- Maintenance: While galvanised, an occasional spray of silicone-based lubricant on the hinge pivot will ensure silent and smooth operation over the years.
