Full details

The Clarks Torhill Hi in Brown is an ideal choice for individuals seeking a sophisticated, dress-casual hybrid that bridges the gap between classic Wallabee styling and modern comfort. This mid-cut lace-up boot delivers exceptional support through its contoured footbed and grippy outsole, making it suitable for long days on your feet; however, users should note that its chunky aesthetic may not suit those looking for a minimalist or low-profile silhouette.

FAQs

Are these boots waterproof?

While the leather is durable and the chunky sole provides a buffer from ground water, they are not classified as waterproof. We recommend using a leather protector spray for light water resistance.

Can I replace the insole?

Yes, the Torhill Hi features a removable, molded Contour Cushion footbed designed to be easily swapped out.

What is the heel height?

The Clarks Torhill Hi features a 3.5cm heel height.

Is this a unisex style?

The Torhill Hi is designed with a classic silhouette that works well for many users, though sizing is specific to the model release.

How do I clean the TPR outsole?

Use warm soapy water and a soft-bristled brush to remove dirt trapped in the grooves of the outsole.

Does the leather stretch?

Genuine leather will naturally stretch and mold to your foot shape slightly over time with regular wear.

Troubleshooting

Boots feel stiff during the first few wears

Leather requires a break-in period. Wear them for short durations indoors initially to allow the material to soften.

Footbed feels uncomfortable or incorrectly aligned

Ensure the removable Contour Cushion footbed is pressed firmly against the bottom of the boot and is centered properly.

Squeaking sound when walking

This is often caused by friction between the insole and the shoe interior. Remove the insole and lightly sprinkle a small amount of talcum powder beneath it.

Pros and Cons

Pros

Excellent all-day arch support from the Contour Cushion footbed
Versatile style that works with both jeans and casual trousers
Robust, grippy outsole provides stability in various weather conditions
Removable insole accommodates custom orthotics
Breathable interior prevents overheating

Cons

The chunky sole may feel heavy compared to traditional sneakers
Mid-cut design requires breaking in around the ankle
Limited color palette focused primarily on heritage tones
Two-eyelet lacing system provides less adjustability than higher-cut boots

Setup, Compatibility & Care

To get the best fit, ensure you tighten the two-eyelet laces to match your preferred snugness without restricting blood flow. If you wear custom orthotics, gently pull up the existing Contour Cushion footbed to replace it with your own inserts.

For care, the brown leather upper should be treated with a high-quality leather conditioner every few months to prevent cracking. Use a soft brush to remove loose dirt from the chunky TPR outsole, and store the boots in a cool, dry place away from direct heat sources to maintain the shape of the leather. If the boots get wet, stuff them with newspaper to absorb moisture from the inside and let them air dry naturally.
