Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup:
- Clean Thoroughly: Ensure the metal surface is completely clean, dry, and free of any oils, dirt, or existing coatings. Use a degreaser or appropriate cleaner for the specific metal type.
- Prepare Surface: Lightly abrading the surface with fine-grit sandpaper (e.g., 320-400 grit) may be recommended for optimal adhesion, followed by another cleaning to remove dust.
- Apply Thin Coat: Apply ProtectaClear using a lint-free cloth, brush, or spray applicator in a thin, even coat. Avoid applying too thickly.
- Allow to Cure: Let the coating air dry and cure fully according to the manufacturer's instructions. Ensure adequate ventilation during application and curing.
Compatibility:
ProtectaClear is compatible with most common metals, including:
- Stainless Steel
- Brass
- Copper
- Aluminum
- Other Ferrous and Non-Ferrous Metals
*Always test on an inconspicuous area first, especially on coated or plated metals.*
Care:
To maintain the protective coating, clean surfaces gently with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners or tools that could scratch or remove the ProtectaClear layer. If wear becomes apparent, the area can be cleaned and recoated.
