Its appearance is ideal for planted tanks, but it can be used in any freshwater aquarium. Gravel modifiers like laterite are unnecessary as Flourite Black is most effective when used alone as a substrate bed; however, it can be mixed with other gravels. To set up, add water slowly to the aquarium to avoid disturbing the substrate. Place a bowl in the aquarium and pour water into the bowl, allowing it to overflow gently onto the gravel bed. Initial cloudiness is normal and can be removed with mechanical filtration. Flourite Black substrates are compatible with under-gravel filters and will not decompose or negatively affect the water chemistry. This product is not chemically coated or treated, ensuring it does not alter the water's pH, and is beneficial for aquarium life, eliminating the need for replacement.
