The fan utilizes a thermoelectric module. When there is a temperature difference between the hot stove surface and the ambient air, this module generates a small amount of electrical current, which powers the fan motor.
Place the fan on the hottest part of your stove's top surface, ensuring it is level and as far away from the flue pipe as possible. This maximizes heat absorption for the thermoelectric module.
The included magnetic thermometer will indicate the optimal operating temperature. Generally, the fan starts to spin when the surface reaches around 50°C (122°F) and operates most effectively at higher temperatures, typically above 100°C (212°F).
