FAQs
Does this guard require drilling or permanent mounting?
No, the ATEK guard is designed to mount behind the headrests using a non-invasive system that requires no drilling.
Can I use this in a sedan?
This guard is designed primarily for vehicles with a boot area, such as SUVs, estates, and hatchbacks. It is not suitable for sedans without an open cargo area.
Will this block my view of the road?
The guard uses a mesh design which allows for visibility through the rearview mirror while remaining strong enough to act as a barrier.
How do I know if it fits my car model?
If your vehicle is an SUV, estate, or hatchback with adjustable headrests on the back seat, it is likely compatible within the 90-154cm width range.
Is the height adjustable?
The guard is designed to provide optimal coverage behind the seats; however, it is primarily adjustable in width.
Troubleshooting
The guard rattles while driving
Ensure all telescopic adjustment knobs are tightened securely and that the contact points against the headrests are padded if necessary.
Width does not fit the vehicle
Double-check that the frame is fully extended or retracted to the required measurement (90-154cm) and that the mounting brackets are aligned correctly with the headrest posts.
Pros and Cons
Pros
- Broad width adjustability fits most SUVs and hatchbacks
- Easy installation without needing specialized tools
- Maintains clear visibility for the driver
- Prevents distraction by keeping pets in the rear
Cons
- Not suitable for vehicles without adjustable headrests
- Requires manual adjustment for a perfect fit
- May block some cargo space near the seat backs
Setup, Compatibility & Care
Installation is straightforward: adjust the telescopic rods to the width of your vehicle's cargo area, then securely fasten the attachment points to the headrest stems of your rear seats. Ensure all locking mechanisms are tightened once the desired width is reached to prevent rattling during transit.
Compatibility: The guard is compatible with a wide range of vehicle types, including:
- SUVs and Crossovers
- Hatchbacks
- Estate Cars
Care Instructions: To keep the guard in top condition, occasionally wipe the mesh and metal frame with a damp cloth to remove pet hair or dust. Periodically check the mounting hardware to ensure the guard remains firmly seated against the headrests.
