Setup, Compatibility & Care
Installation of the TM 3 requires basic automotive mechanical knowledge and access to the vehicle's cooling system.
- Compatibility: Before ordering, cross-reference the `TM 3` part number with your vehicle's VIN or engine code.
- Preparation: Allow the engine to cool completely before opening the cooling system to prevent burns from pressurized hot coolant.
- Replacement: Drain the system sufficiently to prevent spillage. When removing the old thermostat, note the orientation of the housing and ensure the mating surface is clean and free of old gasket residue.
- Sealing: Use the provided seal, ensuring it is seated perfectly in the groove. Do not overtighten housing bolts, as this can crack plastic housings or warp metal ones.
- Air Purging: After installation, refill the coolant using the manufacturer-recommended fluid and perform the correct bleed procedure to remove trapped air, which can cause erratic temperature spikes.
