This pattern is categorized as intermediate, as it requires knowledge of tailoring, lining, and zipper installation.
Yes, it is best suited for medium-weight suiting fabrics that can hold structure, such as wool blends or firm linens.
Yes, the belt loops are an optional design element that can be omitted during the final assembly of the waistband.
Consult the back of the pattern envelope and compare your bust, waist, and hip measurements to the provided sizing chart.
The pattern includes the instructions and templates to install shoulder pads, but the physical pads must be purchased separately.
Ensure you are properly clipping the curves of the seam allowance before turning and pressing.
Trim your seam allowances closely and use a steam iron to press the fly flat after stitching.
Use more pins or basting stitches to control the ease, and feed both fabric layers evenly through the machine.
To begin, ensure you have a sewing machine capable of handling medium-weight fabrics and a zipper foot for the trouser fly. Before cutting into your fashion fabric, identify the correct size using your body measurements rather than store-bought clothing sizes. For care, always pre-wash your fabric if it is cotton or linen to prevent shrinking after the garment is completed. Once assembled, store your tailored jacket on a sturdy hanger to maintain the shape of the shoulder pads, and dry-clean your suit components according to the care requirements of the specific fabric you selected to preserve the structure and lining integrity.
