Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup:
- Ensure the network device (switch or server) has a compatible SFP28 slot.
- Gently insert the Dell 407-BBXU module into the SFP28 port until it clicks into place. The hot-plug support means no system reboot is required.
- Connect a duplex LC multi-mode fiber optic cable to the module and the corresponding port on the other end of the connection.
- Configure the network port on your device if necessary, following the manufacturer's guidelines.

This transceiver is specifically designed for Dell branded networking equipment and PowerEdge servers. Key compatible products include:
- Dell Networking S5212F-ON, S5224F-ON, S5232F-ON, S5248F-ON, S5296F-ON
- Dell PowerEdge C4140, C6420, FC640, M640, M640 VRTX, R440, R540, R640, R6415, R740, R740XD, R740xd2, R7415, R7425, R840, R940, R940xa, T440, T640
It utilizes an 850 nm wavelength and is suitable for Multi-Mode Fiber (MMF) only.
Care:
- Handle the transceiver module with care. Avoid touching the optical connector end and the module contacts.
- Keep the protective cap on the optical connector when not in use to prevent dust and contamination.
- Store the module in a clean, dry environment.
- Regularly check the fiber optic cable connections for cleanliness and integrity.
