Troubleshooting
Pliers feel stiff or difficult to open/close.
Wipe the pivot area clean of any debris. Apply a small drop of lubricating oil to the pivot point and work the pliers back and forth to distribute the oil.
Jaws do not grip effectively.
Ensure the jaws are clean and free from oil or grease. If the serrations appear worn or damaged, the plier may need replacement.
Handles feel slippery.
Wipe the rubber handles with a clean, dry cloth. Ensure your hands are also clean and dry when using the tools for optimal grip.
Rust spots appearing on the steel.
Clean the affected area gently with a fine steel wool pad (use sparingly). Dry thoroughly and apply a light coat of tool oil to prevent recurrence. Store in a dry place.
