Merrell - SpeedArc Matis GORE-TEX® - Brown

The Merrell SpeedArc Matis GORE-TEX® is designed for fast hiking and athletic performance. For serious mountaineering requiring extensive ankle support and heavy-duty protection, a more specialized boot would be recommended.

If your feet remain dry in wet conditions and the shoes feel breathable, the GORE-TEX® is functioning. If you notice water soaking through the fabric or excessive dampness internally that isn't sweat, the DWR treatment may need refreshing or the membrane may be compromised.

It is not recommended to machine wash Merrell GORE-TEX® footwear. Handwashing with mild soap and water is the preferred method to protect the materials and membrane.

The propulsion technology in the outsole is designed to provide a more efficient forward stride, helping you cover ground faster with less effort.

The GORE-TEX® membrane itself is highly durable. The water repellency of the outer fabric (DWR) can diminish over time with use and requires occasional reapplication to maintain optimal performance.

While the GORE-TEX® will keep your feet dry, these sneakers are not heavily insulated. They are suitable for cool to mild weather. For very cold conditions, consider warmer socks or insulated footwear.

Ensure the shoes are properly laced to prevent water from entering. Check that the GORE-TEX® membrane itself is intact (though rare, damage can occur). If water is seeping through the outer fabric, the DWR treatment may need reapplication.

Dirt and debris can clog the membrane. Clean the shoes thoroughly as per the care instructions to restore breathability.

Clean the outsole to remove any caked-on mud or debris that may be reducing traction. Ensure the shoe is the correct size and fit; a loose shoe can compromise stability.

Ensure the lacing is appropriate for the terrain – tighter for descents, slightly looser for ascents if needed. Break in the shoes properly before long hikes. Consider the type of socks worn, as they can significantly impact comfort.
