Hold the compass flat in your hand. The red end of the needle always points to magnetic north. Rotate the compass housing until the orienting arrow lines up with the needle.
Magnetic declination is the angle between true north and magnetic north. You may need to adjust your compass reading based on your location. The compass includes a declination scale.
Use the magnifying lens to make small map details easier to see, such as contour lines or small text.
The ruled edges allow you to measure distances on a map and are compatible with 1:25k and 1:50k map scales.
The lanyard attaches through the hole in the compass. Thread the lanyard through the hole and tie a knot to secure it.
Wipe the compass dry with a soft cloth. The compass is water-resistant, but prolonged exposure to moisture should be avoided.
Please refer to the product packaging or retailer for warranty information.
Ensure the compass is away from magnetic interference (e.g., metal objects, electrical devices). If the needle is still sticking, gently tap the compass to free it.
Ensure the compass is held flat and the needle is free to move. Make sure your eyesight is adequate.
