FAQs

What type of lock is this pack designed for?

This forend strike and fixing pack is specifically designed for use with tubular deadbolts.

What material is the finish?

The finish is a satin steel.

Does this pack include the deadbolt itself?

No, this pack only includes the forend strike plate and the necessary fixing screws for a tubular deadbolt. The deadbolt mechanism is sold separately.

How do I clean the satin steel finish?

Clean with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners. For stubborn marks, use a mild soap solution and dry thoroughly with a soft cloth.

Can I use this with a mortise lock?

No, this pack is specifically designed for tubular deadbolts and is not compatible with mortise locks.

What are the dimensions of the pack?

The product is supplied in a box. Specific unit dimensions are typically listed on the packaging, but the focus is on its function with standard tubular deadbolts.

Troubleshooting

Deadbolt does not engage properly with the strike plate.

Check that the strike plate is aligned correctly with the deadbolt. Ensure the deadbolt is fully extending. Minor adjustments to the strike plate position may be necessary. Verify you are using a compatible tubular deadbolt.

Screws do not seem to fit the pre-drilled holes.

Confirm that you are using the screws provided in the pack. If the holes in the door frame are stripped, consider using longer or slightly wider screws, or wood filler to repair the holes before re-inserting screws.

Strike plate is loose after installation.

Ensure all screws are tightened securely. If the wood in the door frame is soft, the screws may not hold firmly. Consider using wood anchors or a stronger wood filler.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Provides a clean and professional look with its satin steel finish.
  • Ensures a secure fit when used with compatible tubular deadbolts.
  • Durable materials contribute to a long product lifespan.
  • All necessary fixing components are included in one package.

Cons

  • Limited to use with tubular deadbolts, not universally compatible.
  • Satin steel may show fingerprints or smudges more readily than other finishes.
  • Does not include the deadbolt mechanism itself, only the strike and fixing pack.

Setup, Compatibility & Care

Setup: To install, first identify the correct position for the strike plate on your door frame, aligning it with the deadbolt mechanism. Use the provided screws to securely fasten the strike plate. Ensure the deadbolt extends and retracts smoothly into the strike plate.

Compatibility: This pack is specifically designed for use with tubular deadbolts. It is not compatible with mortise locks or other types of deadbolt mechanisms.

Care: To maintain the satin steel finish, clean regularly with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or harsh chemicals, as these can scratch or damage the surface. For tougher marks, a mild soap solution can be used, followed by drying with a clean, soft cloth.
