Setup, Compatibility & Care
Compatibility: Always verify that the NGK LZTR4A-11 (5444) spark plug is the correct replacement for your specific vehicle's make, model, and year. Consult your vehicle's owner's manual or a reliable parts catalog.
Installation:
- Ensure the engine is cool.
- Disconnect the spark plug wires or coil packs.
- Use a spark plug socket wrench to remove the old spark plug.
- Hand-thread the new NGK spark plug into the cylinder head to avoid cross-threading.
- Tighten the spark plug to the manufacturer's specified torque using a torque wrench. Over-tightening can damage the cylinder head.
- Reconnect the spark plug wires or coil packs securely.
Care: Spark plugs are generally considered a maintenance item and are not typically 'cared' for. Once installed, their performance degrades over time. Replacement is the primary form of 'care' to maintain optimal engine function. Keep the engine bay clean to prevent debris from falling into spark plug wells during maintenance.
