Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup: The gauges require minimal setup. Ensure the removable tip on the durometer is securely attached. For accurate tread depth measurements, zero the tread depth gauge on a flat surface before each use.
Compatibility: This set is designed for use with pneumatic tires typically found on cars, motorcycles, and other performance vehicles. The Type-A durometer is standard for measuring rubber hardness.
Care:
- Cleaning: After each use, wipe the gauges clean with a dry or slightly damp cloth. Avoid using harsh solvents or abrasives that could damage the aluminum or the measuring surfaces.
- Storage: Store both gauges in their included protective cases when not in use. This prevents damage to the delicate measuring tips and protects the finish.
- Calibration: Periodically check the zero setting of the tread depth gauge. The durometer's accuracy is generally stable but should be used consistently to understand variations.
