Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup:
- Select a sheet of photosensitive paper and place it on a flat surface, away from direct sunlight.
- Arrange the rhodoid motifs as desired on the paper.
- Place the included Plexiglas sheet over the motifs to hold them in place.
- Take the arrangement outdoors into direct sunlight. Exposure time varies based on sunlight intensity (typically 5-15 minutes on a sunny day).
- Carefully remove the Plexiglas and motifs. The paper will appear faded or unchanged in direct light.
- Rinse the paper immediately in a bath of clear, cool water for about 1 minute. The blue color will develop.
- Gently pat the paper dry with a soft cloth or let it air dry completely.
- Insert the dried print into one of the laser-cut frames using the provided adhesive tape.
Compatibility: This kit is designed as a self-contained art activity. The included rhodoid motifs and paper are specifically formulated for this cyanotype process. Refill kits of photosensitive paper and motifs are available separately to continue the activity.
Care:
- Store unused photosensitive paper in its original packaging in a dark, cool place. Avoid exposure to light.
- Handle rhodoid motifs with care to avoid scratching or bending.
- Clean the Plexiglas sheet with a soft, dry cloth.
- Keep the finished artworks away from prolonged direct sunlight to prevent fading.
