FAQs

Does this tool work on a 2.0L diesel Kia engine?

No, this tool is specifically designed for the 2.5L D4CB engine. For other displacements, please refer to Laser tools 6811 or 7178.

Is this an OEM tool?

This is an equivalent tool to the OEM 09331-4A000, designed to perform the same task with professional-grade reliability.

Which specific Kia Sorento models are covered?

It is compatible with Sorento models manufactured between 2002 and 2017 that utilize the 2.5 D4CB CRDI engine.

Can I use this for a complete timing chain replacement?

Yes, it is designed to facilitate the safe removal and replacement of timing chains on the specified engines.

Does the tool require any lubrication?

It is best to keep the tool clean. If it becomes stiff or dirty, a light application of light machine oil can prevent rust, but wipe it dry before use.

What should I do if the tool fits loosely?

Check your engine code again. If the engine is correct, inspect the sprocket for damaged teeth that might prevent a proper, secure fit.

Troubleshooting

Tool does not fit the sprocket teeth properly

Verify that your engine is the 2.5L D4CB variant; if the engine size differs (e.g., 1.6L or 2.2L), you may need Laser tool 6811 or 7178.

Difficulty locking the sprocket in place

Ensure the engine is at Top Dead Center (TDC) or the manufacturer's specified position for timing chain maintenance before attaching the tool.

Pros and Cons
