Check your tension and ensure you are using the correct needle size specified in the pattern for the recommended yarn weight.
Use a highlighter on the printed instructions to mark each row as you complete it and use a cable needle to keep stitches secure.
Always knit a 4x4 inch tension swatch before starting; if your gauge is off, switch to a larger or smaller needle size accordingly.
To begin, ensure you have your chosen Aran-weight yarn and the needles recommended by the specific gauge mentioned in the pattern. It is highly recommended to knit a tension square before starting the actual project to verify your gauge. Care for the finished garment follows standard wool-care protocols: hand wash in cool water with a mild detergent, lay flat to dry to preserve the integrity of the cable stitches, and avoid hanging the sweater as the weight of the wool may cause it to stretch out of shape.
