Product Information

Full details

The Sizzix Big Shot Machine (667085) is an essential tool for paper crafters, card makers, and hobbyists looking to achieve professional-grade die-cutting and embossing results with ease. Its core benefit lies in its reliable, consistent pressure provided by solid core steel rollers, which ensure clean cuts across a variety of materials. While it offers unmatched versatility for Sizzix collections, users should be aware that its 6-inch cutting width limits it to smaller-scale projects and specific die sizes compatible with that dimension.

FAQs

Does this machine cut fabric?

Yes, the Big Shot can cut fabric if using appropriate Bigz dies designed for multi-material cutting.

Can I use other brands of dies with this machine?

The Big Shot is compatible with many industry-standard wafer-thin dies, though performance may vary based on the manufacturer's required sandwich thickness.

What is the warranty on this machine?

Please refer to the manufacturer documentation provided in the box, as warranty terms may vary by region.

Do I need to lubricate the machine?

The internal gears are maintenance-free; do not apply oil or grease to the roller mechanism.

Can the handle be replaced if it breaks?

The clip-on handle is designed for standard use, but if it is damaged, check the Sizzix website for compatible replacement parts.

Troubleshooting

Die is not cutting through the paper completely

Ensure you are using the correct platform and adapter configuration, or add a shim of cardstock to increase the pressure.

Cutting pads are bowing or warping

Rotate your cutting pads after every few passes and flip them over to ensure even wear.

Hard to turn the handle

Check that the sandwich thickness is not too high. Remove a shim or adapter if the resistance feels unsafe or excessive.

Pros and Cons

Pros

Durable steel roller construction
Compact footprint (37.3 x 26.1 x 21.5cm)
Wide compatibility with Sizzix die libraries
Easy-to-use manual operation
Stable, non-slip rubber feet

Cons

Limited to 6-inch maximum width
Manual cranking requires physical effort
Standard Cutting Pads are consumable items that wear over time
Not suitable for large-format scrapbook pages or wide fabric bolts

Setup, Compatibility & Care

Setting up the Big Shot is straightforward: attach the handle, ensure the machine is on a flat, stable surface, and select your platform based on the die type. For Thinlits or Framelits, always include the Thin Die Adapter in your sandwich. To extend the life of your equipment, rotate your Standard Cutting Pads frequently; using both sides helps keep them flat. Avoid cutting too close to the edges of the pads to prevent warping. If the machine becomes dusty, wipe it down with a dry microfiber cloth, and ensure the handle is securely locked before use.
