This Freud Rounding Over Bit is designed for woodworkers looking to create smooth, rounded edges on various wooden projects. Its primary benefit is achieving flawless finishes on hardwoods, softwoods, plywood, and composites. A minor caveat is that it requires a router (hand-held, table-mounted, or CNC) for operation. Key features include Freud's Quadra-Cut design for superior finishes, Perma-SHIELD Coating for durability, and versatility across different wood types and router setups.

The 3/8" radius is designed to create a rounded, softened edge on wooden parts. This is often used for decorative purposes, to improve comfort by removing sharp corners, and to prevent chipping or splintering on the edges of furniture, doors, and other wooden items.
This Freud Rounding Over Bit can effectively cut all composition materials, plywood, hardwoods, and softwoods.
This bit is designed for use in CNC, hand-held, and table-mounted routers that accept a 1/2" shank diameter.
The Quadra-Cut design features four cutting edges, which results in a smoother finish with fewer passes required and less tear-out, ultimately saving you sanding time.
Perma-SHIELD is a proprietary heat-resistant coating that builds up less heat during operation, prevents resin and pitch adhesion, and extends the life of the router bit.
Regular cleaning after use with a suitable solvent and storing it properly in a dry environment will help maintain its sharpness and coating. Inspect the cutting edges periodically for wear.
A rounding over bit creates a convex, curved edge, while a chamfer bit creates a flat, angled edge. This bit specifically creates a 3/8" radius curve.
Ensure the bit is sharp. Clean any pitch or resin buildup. Reduce the feed rate or the amount of material removed per pass. Check that the wood is securely clamped.
Verify the bit is securely tightened in the collet. Ensure the router is operating at the correct RPM for the material. Check for any runout in the router's collet or bearing.
This can be mitigated by the Perma-SHIELD Coating. Ensure adequate ventilation during use and clean the bit regularly to maintain coating effectiveness. Avoid pushing the router too hard or too fast.
Check for dull cutting edges. Clean the bit thoroughly. Ensure the router speed is appropriate for the material being cut. Verify the bit is installed at the correct depth.
