Draper Contractors Cable Laying Shovel - Solid Forged - 64330

This shovel is specifically designed for digging narrow trenches, ideal for laying cables, conduits, or small pipes underground.

Solid forging creates a stronger, more durable metal component by shaping hot metal under pressure. For this shovel, it means the socket (where the blade meets the handle) is less likely to bend or break under heavy load.

While it can be used for general digging, its specialized blade shape and width are optimized for trenching. A standard spade or shovel might be more efficient for broader digging tasks.

The blade is 114mm wide at the base and widens to 125mm at the top.

It features a Y-dee shaped handle, designed for a comfortable and secure grip during use.

Yes, the shovel is ready for use upon receipt. It is typically sold loose.

The shaft is made of all-steel tubular material for strength and rigidity.

Inspect the connection point between the blade and the shaft. If loose, professional repair or replacement may be necessary. Ensure the handle is secure.

Ensure the shovel is being used at the correct angle. For extremely hard or compacted soil, pre-loosening with a fork or pickaxe might be beneficial before using the shovel.

Clean the blade thoroughly and dry it completely. Apply a light coat of oil (such as WD-40 or mineral oil) to the blade to prevent further rust formation. Store in a dry environment.
