Product Information

Full details

This EAUDIO Ceiling Speaker in white is designed for users seeking discreet, high-quality audio solutions for various environments, including kitchens and bathrooms. Its key benefit is moisture resistance combined with easy installation and compatibility with most low-impedance amplifiers, making it versatile for home cinema, surround sound, or multi-room setups. A potential caveat is its 16-ohm impedance, which may require specific amplifier configurations for optimal performance. The dual-cone design provides an extended frequency response, and it's sold and priced in pairs.

FAQs

Can these speakers be used outdoors?

These speakers are moisture-resistant and suitable for kitchens and bathrooms, but they are not rated for direct outdoor exposure to the elements. Prolonged exposure to rain, snow, or direct sunlight may damage them.

How many speakers do I need for a surround sound system?

A basic surround sound system typically uses 5 speakers (front left, center, front right, surround left, surround right). These are sold in pairs, so you would need multiple pairs for a full setup.

What is the impedance of this speaker?

This EAUDIO ceiling speaker has an impedance of 16 Ohms.

Can I connect these speakers to any amplifier?

They are compatible with most low-impedance amplifiers. However, ensure your amplifier can handle a 16-ohm load. Connecting multiple 16-ohm speakers in parallel can reduce the overall impedance, which may be necessary depending on your amplifier's specifications.

What are the cut-out dimensions for installation?

The required cut-out dimensions are 114mm x 114mm.

Do these speakers come with a grille?

The product description does not specify if a separate grille is included, but typically ceiling speakers of this type have an integrated or attachable grille for a finished look.

What is the power handling of these speakers?

These speakers have a Power RMS of 40W and a Peak Music Power of 80W.

Troubleshooting

No sound from speaker

Check that the speaker is correctly wired to the amplifier (positive to positive, negative to negative). Ensure the amplifier is powered on and set to the correct input source. Verify the amplifier is configured for 16-ohm speakers or the appropriate impedance load.

Distorted or poor sound quality

Reduce the volume on the amplifier. Check for any obstructions or damage to the speaker cone or tweeter. Ensure the speaker is securely mounted and not vibrating against the ceiling material. Confirm the amplifier is not clipping.

Crackling or popping noises

Inspect the speaker wire connections for looseness or corrosion. Ensure the speaker is not overloaded by the amplifier's power output. Try connecting to a different amplifier or channel to isolate the issue.

Humming noise

This could be due to ground loop interference. Check amplifier grounding. Ensure speaker wire is not run parallel to power cables for long distances. Try a different audio source.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Moisture resistance makes it suitable for high-humidity areas like bathrooms and kitchens.
  • Easy installation reduces setup time and complexity.
  • Wide compatibility with common amplifier types.
  • Dual-cone design and tweeter ensure good sound quality.
  • Discreet ceiling-mount design saves space.
  • Priced and sold in pairs, offering good value for stereo setups.

Cons

  • 16-ohm impedance may not be compatible with all amplifiers without specific configurations.
  • Cut-out dimensions require precise installation planning.
  • Frequency response range (80-18000 Hz) might be limiting for audiophiles seeking very high frequencies.
  • Requires a powered amplifier; not a standalone unit.
  • Primarily designed for background or ambient sound, not high-fidelity critical listening.

Setup, Compatibility & Care

Setup:

  1. Determine Location: Choose a ceiling location with sufficient clearance for mounting depth (65mm) and away from obstructions.
  2. Mark and Cut: Use the speaker's dimensions (130mm diameter) or a template if provided to mark the ceiling. Cut an opening within the specified cut-out dimensions (114mm x 114mm).
  3. Connect Wiring: Run speaker wire from your amplifier to the speaker location. Connect the positive (+) and negative (-) terminals of the speaker to the corresponding wires from your amplifier.
  4. Mount Speaker: Insert the speaker into the cut-out. Secure it using the provided mounting clips or screws, ensuring a snug fit.

Compatibility:

  • Amplifiers: Compatible with most low-impedance (typically 4-8 ohm systems, though this speaker is 16 ohm) amplifiers. Ensure your amplifier can handle 16-ohm loads or use appropriate wiring techniques if connecting multiple 16-ohm speakers in parallel to achieve a lower impedance.
  • Audio Sources: Connects to standard audio outputs from hi-fi systems, AV receivers, multi-room amplifiers, or streaming devices via your amplifier.

Care:

  • Cleaning: Dust gently with a soft, dry cloth. For stubborn marks, use a slightly damp cloth and wipe dry immediately. Avoid abrasive cleaners or excessive moisture.
  • Environment: While moisture resistant, avoid direct prolonged exposure to water or extreme humidity beyond typical kitchen/bathroom levels.
