This chalet incorporates all the essential features for the safe rearing of owlets, thoughtfully designed with advice from the Barn Owl Trust and other experts. It is manufactured from exterior grade timber and features a generous drained floor of approx. 300 sq. inches. The full-width front platform has sturdy edging for owlets to exercise on, and there is a full 17" depth from the pop hole to the floor. A specially drilled backplate provides fixing holes above and below the nest box, with oversized holes to accommodate ropes for hauling the box up the tree. The backplate is reinforced top and bottom with sturdy battening to allow for unevenness of the tree trunk. This box has been manufactured with the barn owl in mind, it is secure, has the correct amount of room available and incorporates design features dictated by many organisations, including the barn owl trust. The box is crafted from the Best Marine grade ply available and has been weatherproofed. A backplate has been secured to the box to ensure you can easily secure the nest box to a tree that is uneven, there are also convenient large holes on the top to ensure you can haul it up a tree with rope if that makes it easier for you. The back of the nest box is fully strengthened with extra battens for long life.
