Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup: This file is sold unhandled. To use it safely and effectively, a file handle must be securely attached to the tang (the pointed end of the file). Alternatively, the tang can be fitted into a suitable chuck on a rotary tool or a specialized file holder.
Compatibility: The Bahco Half-round Second Cut File is compatible with a wide range of metals and some harder plastics. It is best suited for use with common ferrous and non-ferrous metals. Its effectiveness depends on the hardness of the material being worked.
Care: To maintain performance and prolong the life of the file:
- Clean After Each Use: Use a file card or a stiff brush to remove metal filings and debris from the teeth.
- Store Properly: Avoid storing files loosely with other tools, as this can damage the teeth. Store them separately or in a file rack.
- Avoid Rust: Keep the file dry. If rust spots appear, they can usually be removed with a fine steel wool or a rust remover, but this may slightly dull the teeth.
- Use Appropriately: Do not use the file for tasks it is not designed for, such as prying or hammering.
